Thanks, Jeff and Mark! This is well done: simple and straightforward, just like an Amor house. It may be hard for some folks to realize what a huge benefit an Amor house is for a family needing a home of their own. One weekend project, even one day working on an Amor house is a real eye-opener.

Thank you for this post! That's a good point about how the site of homes being built can be a holy place. Groups like Amor are the best way to solve problems like housing. I've been on one Amor trip (Tijuana/Tecate area) and I will go on more. It was a thrilling experience to be part of a team, building something important and useful in three days, and to express God's love in a concrete manner.

Our youngest came at 9, and worked harder than the teenagers. She joyfully joined in for the next four years whenever a local trip was available. We have on our fridge a picture of he that first year spreading cement in tattered overalls, braid coming loose, oversized gloves on her hands and the biggest most intense grin on her face.....1 year later she was helping cut the boards, and 2 years later she was up on the roof hammering and spreading tar. She is thinking about how to organize her own trip with our church next year as a junior in high school.
Yes, her older sisters learned a lot on their Amor trips, but in some ways, she was more fundamentally impacted by the experience. So bring on the 8 year old!

I have seen newborns to senior citizens and even folks in wheelchairs make the trip. It was worth it for each of them. Amor even built a handicapped bano for one group. Just ask them - they love serving us!

We' have one family that has 4 daughters and has brought all including the youngest since year 1 and she has known only AMOR for spring break her whole life. I think shes 5 or 6 now..
